Mr. VIVIAN CRAWFORD

VICE CHAIRMAN

Vivian Crawford has been a Management Consultant since 1995.  He was on work assignment at the Financial Sector Adjustment Company (FINSAC, an entity created by Government to regulate collapsed financial institutions), from its inception until October of 1998, where he served on the Boards of eight companies taken over by FINSAC.

Previously, he worked at Citizens’ Bank for fourteen (14) years as Chief Inspector and General Manager for Retail Banking in the Eastern Region.  On April 1, 2000, he was appointed Executive Director of the Institute of Jamaica which has responsibilities for seven divisions.  The Institute of Jamaica under his watch has witnessed the restoration of Liberty Hall, the Legacy of Marcus Garvey as well as the implementation of the Sights of Memory Programme commemorating outstanding records of our history through the installation of plaques such as at Old King’s House Spanish Town where the Act for the Abolition of Slavery was read, the last home where Marcus Garvey lived in Jamaica and the birthplace of perhaps Jamaica’s most outstanding nurse, Mary Seacole.

In 2003, he chaired a submission to UNESCO with Dr. the Hon. Olive Lewin as team leader and with the assistance of a committee of twelve persons for the declaration of the Music of Moore Town Maroons of which he is a descendant as part of the Intangible Heritage of Mankind.  Only 25 other such declarations have been made.
